The activation and placement voucher (AVGS) is a voucher offered by the Bundesagentur für Arbeit and Job Center to job seekers and unemployed people in Germany. The individual can either find a qualifying program that benefits them or be advised by their Berater or counselor on an educational institution that makes sense for them. This voucher is primarily for labor market orientation and focuses on gaining key qualifications and training in order to join the labor market in Germany

The AVGS voucher is available to anyone who resides in Germany that is looking for work or is about to be unemployed. You will need to be in one of these categories: you are a registered job seeker, looking for work, a student or trainee, a soldier that has recently completed military service, or just have a mini job of working less than 450 EUR a month.

There are two types of coaching can be requested. Career and Founders Coaching (Grüdungscoaching) AVGS coaching is a set of sessions that help you to clarify your career goals and make a concrete plan on how to achieve them. The career coach can help you learn how to present yourself to potential employers, prepare for job interviews, and fine-tune your resume and cover letters. You will need to apply through the Arbeitsagentur and JobCenter after registering as unemployed. The voucher is not guaranteed to be given, but as long as you meet all of the requirements it is highly probable that you will get it.
